TBD

12:45 - 1:45 Snake Charming with Kat the Novel Nomad $25
According to Langleek Dictionary, snake charming is a performance art where an individual, known as a snake charmer, manipulates and interacts with live snakes.
In this workshop, you will primarily learn to safely handle, feed, transport, and perform with your snake. We will go over what do when (not if) it bites. You will also learn some short history about the practice of snake charming in the United States, as it applies to the art of circus sideshow.
Participants are asked not to bring their own snakes to this workshop, out of an abundance of caution, keeping everyone's physical safety in mind. Thank you very much for understanding.
2:00 - 2:45 Cardistry and the Charlier Cut with Bothe $25
According to vanishingincmagic.com, The Charlier Cut is an easy one-handed cut that every card magician should know. Used as a display of skill instead of a hidden maneuver.
Salida Circus thinks this is the perfect introductory magic skill. We have six or seven decks of cards on hand for students, but if you want to bring your own, that's great!
We're also thrilled to feature local talent to teach this class, Bothe Kretsinger of Haunted Highway Productions - this is the circus skill creating the social interaction that we were talking about in our Salida Circus Mission, kids!
3:00 - 4:30 Dowsing with Slim the Living Cyborg $50
According to Oxford Languages Dictionary, dowsing is a technique for searching for underground water, minerals, or anything invisible, by observing the motion of a pointer (traditionally a forked stick, now often paired bent wires), supposedly in response to unseen influences.
Slim will teach you the ins and outs of why dowsing has been such a popular method of locating just about anything for as long as humans have had thumbs. Voted Salida Circus' Best Party Trick for 2017, Best Improvised Act 2021, Most Interesting Method of Wallet Milking 2022, and Most Likely to be Seen on Great American Grifts 2026, you won't want to miss this hour and a half of sideshow secret tell-all! Some materials provided to the class, but bonus points to participants who would like to bring their own.
